The Officers and Members of St. Enda’s GAC extend their deepest sympathy to the family of the late John O’Hagan who sadly passed away on Tuesday 7th February, 2012.
Aged 71, John, who was very well known and highly respected around the district for his work with a number of schools and community groups, is the father of youth coach Shane and grandfather of Kerrie-Ann who will be contesting the All-Ireland Scór final next week with the Club’s Ballad group. His grandson Rory is also a member of the club’s U12 team.
A native of Co. Armagh, John, who lived at 4 Harmony Heights, is also survived by his wife Maeve, son Neil, a former youth footballer in the club, and daughters Sheena and Una. He is the brother of Eddie, Peter, Patsy and Malachy O’Hagan.
Prior to locating to Omagh where he worked as a micro biologist with the NI Veterinary Lab in the town, John played Gaelic football with Ballyhegan Davitts GAC and was a member of their senior team at the tender age of 15. In later years John became a leading member of Omagh Golf Club and was an active member in the local Badminton scene where he was highly regarded.
His funeral on Thursday in the Sacred Heart Church was packed to capacity, reflecting the esteem in which he was held in the community.
