Omagh AGM 2024
In his annual report to convention Omagh secretary Ciaran Mc Daid confirmed that the St Enda’s club had now the biggest membership in Tyrone and it was very much a year of business as usual. He also singled out the championship loss to Killyclogher describing it as the crueltiest reality of sport as they lost with a last ditch goal.
Mr Mc Daid addressed the 93rd St Enda’s AGM on Tuesday night in what turned out to be a low key meeting with only minimal change in the executive and an exciting ten year development plan coming at the start of 2025.
The Secretary’s report encapsulated the entire year of activities. From the ladies retention of senior status, the hurlers success, the reintroduction of senior camogie and youth success. While his outline of the senior footballers championship exit really grasped the feelings of every club member
“renewed optimism, pride in the jersey” and “it was the courage, intensity and desire of our players that stood out for me.” were among his comments.
Delegates heard the various reports and while in the main it was positive the club secretary did appeal for more volunteers to get involved in such a big club. Club Chairman Conor Sally, returned unopposed, thanked those who had contributed to the club on and off the park in 2024 and spoke about the pride he had in leading the club as he also talked about the future.
“Our ten year plan is all but ready and we look forward to launching it at the start of the new year, we will have several big projects in the pipeline although they will take major funding and need the commitment of all our membership which is the biggest in the County.” That fact was echoed by Treasurer Ciaran Keyes who expressed hope that Club Omagh would again be a key driver having been a major contributor once again..
