Notes-Journalist-Omagh1Tyrone Minor Selection – Congratulations to Damien McGuigan on being selected for the Tyrone Minor Panel for 2016 Ulster League.  Damien was part of this years successful U16 Double winning team.

Commiserations – Hard luck to our Ceili and Sets teams who narrowly missed out on success at the Ulster Scór na nÓg final held in Silverbridge Co Armagh on Saturday (12/12/15). Both teams performed very well in a very highly competitive competition. Well done boys and girls.

Congratulations – The inaugural Ulster Ladies Awards night proved a happy hunting ground for Cavan and Tyrone as between them they picked up all five awards on offer in Kelly’s Inn on Friday night (11/12/15). It proved to be a great night for two Omagh club men as well as club photographer Dominic McClements and Tyrone Ladies PRO Paddy Hunter collected two of the awards. Paddy picked up the award for the best County Final programme. The club ladies football officer actually produced 3 excellent colour publications, while Dominic received an award for Best Action Shot of the Year for pictures from the club’s U16 Ladies games in 2015.

Tyrone Hurling Academy – Club players born in 1998, 1999 and 2000 who would like to be considered for selection for the 2016 Tyrone Hurling Academy are invited to a strength and conditioning session in the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown today (Thursday) evening from 7-8pm. All players are requested to bring suitable indoor training gear, a hurl, helmet and water bottle and be present and ready for 6.45pm.

Weekly Bingo & Lotto – Remember Weekly Bingo continues every Thursday night at 9pm in the club-rooms. £3,250 total payout plus an opportunity to win £5,000 on our Club Lotto. Just a reminder that there is a free town bus service for Thursday night bingo in the club-rooms which starts at O’Kane Park at 8.15 with stops on the Tamlaght Road, Pat Kirk’s and Strathroy.

With Sympathy – The Executive Committee and members of St. Enda’s GAA regret to announce the passing of our long serving handball stalwart John Smith. A renowned Gael, John (82) was well known throughout the country for his love of Irish culture, our music, our language and our games, but he was particularly fond of the game of handball. He was a founding member of Omagh Handball Club and was also a key driver in the founding of Loughmacrory Handball Club in 1967. The Requiem Mass took place on Tuesday (15th Dec) at 2pm in St. Mary’s Church, Killyclogher. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Scór na nÓg Tickets – Scór na nÓg All-Ireland ticket requests from fully paid up club members are to be texted to Cultural Officer David Tierney 07742242072 or Club Secretary Paul Breen on 07803876555 no later than 6pm on Monday 21st December 2016.
