Weekly news round-up – Thurs 4th June

Senior Championship – St. Enda’s seniors will begin the defence of their 2014 Tyrone senior championship title in Pomeroy next Friday evening against Carrickmore in Promeroy at 8.15pm. We are calling on you to be at the game in Pomeroy to support Larry, Barry and all the players. With Moortown and Edendork playing at 6.45pm, big crowds are expected so get down early to the Main stand, group together, make plenty of noise and get behind Omagh St. Enda’s.

League wins – The Seniors received a timely boost in confidence when they overcame Strabane 2-16 to 0-11 in their latest Division One league game last Saturay at Healy Park. Well done to the Reserves who also defeated Strabane 1-15 to 1-7.

Guest coach – Omagh St. Enda’s would like to thank renowned coach and former Tipperary dual star – Paudie Butler – gave an action packed two-hour hurling and football coaching session to an enthusiastic group of U12 and U14 players at our Healy Park Ball Wall last Friday evening. Paudie later gave a thought-provoking talk to coaches, parents and players on the key aspects of developing skills and the love of our games.

Dublin trip for Camogs – The Hurl with me programme will conclude this Saturday 6th in the Commercials club in Dublin. A party of our camogs and their parents will represent the club in a national blitz, where we will play against teams from Cork, Clare, Mayo & Down. Bus leaves Brook Street 8.20am. There will be no camogie coaching this Friday. Coaching will resume next week from 6pm to 7pm at St. Patrick’s Park.

U14 Football – Commiserations to the U14 boys who were defeated last Wednesday by Carrickmore in the Championship semi final on a scoreline of 3-2 to 1-11. The U14s now play Carrickmore again in the league semi final this Thursday (tonight), in Killyclogher at 7.30pm.

U14 Football Féile – Omagh St Enda’s will meet Crossmaglen once more when the U14 Boys travel to Cloghan, Monaghan on 27th June after they were invite to play in the regional Feile na nÓg competition. The boy will take part in an 8 team competition and will face the likes of Crossmaglen (Armagh), Clontarf (Dublin), Scotstown (Monaghan).

U14 Hurling Féile – The countdown is now on for the All-Ireland Féile na nGael hurling tournament when St. Patrick’s GAA of Drangan, Co. Tipperary, will be hosted by the club during the weekend of 19th to 21st June. It promises to be another memorable weekend for our players and their families. Keep free Saturday 20th June for the annual summer BBQ at which our Féile guests will be special visitors.

Primary Schools Cup – The St. Enda’s Primary Schools Cup 2015 will be held this Friday 5th June between 10am and 2pm at Healy Park. This year we have 9 schools competing with over 20 teams and over 200 boys and girls participating. Anyone willing to spare a few hours on Friday in any capacity please get in touch with Ciaran McDaid 07729378421.

Summer Camp – The Omagh St. Enda’s Annual summer camp will take place from Monday 24th to Thursday 27th August at Healy Park. Children will have the chance to enjoy participating in Gaelic Football, Hurling, Camogie an Scór activities. More details will follow soon.

Cycle – The popular St. Enda’s summer cycle is set to return in 2015 with a two-day trek from Omagh to Donegal town on the cards for September. The 90 mile journey will involve an overnight stop in Donegal town on Saturday 12th September, before returning to Omagh on Sunday 13th September via Pettigo. Just like all previous cycle events at St. Enda’s, it is open to cyclists of all abilities. Anyone wishing to take part in our weekly group cycle should meet at Fireagh Picnic area on Clanabogan Road this Sunday morning at 10.30am.

Lotto – This weeks Club Lotto number (28th May) are 10, 13, 15, 18 and 23. There was no winner of the £5,000 Jackpot. 4 Draw winners of £25 each are Lorraine Crawford , Liam Grugan , Ryan Fleming & Marcella Canavan

Sympathy – The Executive Committee and members of St. Enda’s GAA wish to extend their deepest sympathy to the Duffy family on the recent death of Jim. Mr Duffy, late of Colman Fold, Strabane, was the father of our former senior player Eddie and club supporters James and Patrick. He is also survived by his daughters Belinda and Jacqueline and partner Pat and pre-deceased by son Gerard-Anthony, brothers Tommy and Edward and sister May. Funeral took place on Wednesday 3rd June in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Strabane.
