FORTUNATELY for many of our younger players, the tragedies which emanated during the ‘Troubles’ in the 1960s, 1970s and the 1980s are a thing of the past. However, many of our senior members can still vividly recall how their lives were scarred by violence.

In a moving interview with BBC Radio Ulster about the former St. Comcille’s GAA team in East Belfast which disappeared without a trace in the 1970’s, our own Charlie O’Donnell – father of senior player Connor – recounts how his family was devastated by the murder of his father in a pipebomb attack in Belfast, simply because of his GAA allegience.
