OMAGH ST. ENDA’S was crowned 2014 ‘Club of the Year’ at Friday’s Ulster Herald Sports Personality of the Year awards in recognition of our outstanding exploits last year on and off the pitch.
Club Chairman John McElholm collected the trophy to add to our already bursting trophy cabinet and we wish to thank everyone who voted for us over the course of the past few weeks.
While Club captain Hugh Gallagher who was the Sports Personality of the Month for September was unfortunately pipped for the overall individual award, the large St. Enda’s contingent at the awards were delighted to see former club legend Dan McCaffrey inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Dan, who scored the only goal in the club’s first senior championship victory in 1948, was honoured for his GAA and soccer exploits. He also has the distinction of scoring the only goal in the club’s first ever Minor football championship victory in 1946. Check out the club’s official DVD ‘The St. Enda’s Story’ in which Dan gives a brilliant interview of his playing days with St. Enda’s and Tyrone. Copies are available at the club bar, priced £10. Dan now joins other St. Enda’s legends Thady Turbett and Donal Donnelly in the Ulster Herald Hall of Fame.
