Michael Gilheaney celebrates his 90th birthday with the O’Neill Cup and a visit by Conor Meyler.
CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes to St. Enda’s stalwart Michael (Mick) Gilheaney who celebrated his 90th birthday last week – and he enjoyed a very special visitor in the form of the O’Neill Cup at a family celebration in his home last Saturday.
Giving him an account of our historic county final victory was senior and U21 player Conor Meyler. Mick has been a long-time member of St. Enda’s and was the chairman of the club’s Park Committee in 1972 when Healy Park was officially opened.
He is also fondly remembered as the ever reliable team bus driver and bingo bus driver, helping to ferry young players and bingo players around for many years. Happy Birthday Mick…let’s hope we can provide you with another special visitor in a couple of weeks time!!
