Weekly news round-up – Thurs 19th June

BBQ weather – With the weather forecast good for this weekend everyone is invited to the annual Club BBQ this Saturday at Healy Park (7pm). To guarantee a sumptuous steak meal you need to get your ticket this evening (Thurs) as they are being snapped up fast. Tickets on sale from Mickey McCrory’s newsagents John Street  or from clubrooms on Thursday evening. Don’t miss out.

Féile guests – Special guests at the BBQ will the Barrow Rangers GAA club from Kilkenny with a party of over 50 players and supporters arriving at Healy Park on Friday afternoon for the All-Ireland U14 Hurling Feile na nGael weekend. The first game with St. Enda’s is 2pm in Healy Park on Friday before the entourage departs for Armagh for the official opening ceremony. The group will return to the clubrooms for 9.30pm and all members are invited along to welcome our guests. On Saturday there will be a busy schedule of games commencing at 10am and running right through the afternoon. All of the players will attend Mass in the Sacred Heart Church at 6pm and afterwards attend the club BBQ. There will be further semi-final games involving up to eight teams on Sunday morning in Healy Park and St. Patrick’s Park before the sectional finals in Garvaghey from 2pm.

Reserves – The senior reserves team had a god win in the championship against Coalisland at the weekend and this Friday they are home to Carrickmore at 7.30pm. The U21s also had a win against Carrickmore in the championship and also overcame Errigal last Tuesday in convincing fashion.

Ladies – Senior ladies are away to Ardboe in the league on Saturday evening at 7.30pm and away to Aghyaran on Tuesday.

Camogie – There will be no camogie on Friday due to the Feile.

General meeting – There will be a special general meeting on Monday next at 8pm to make minor amendments to the club constitution.

Boxing DVD launch – All members requested to attend. Participants in the Black and White Fight night are invited back to the clubrooms on Friday 27th for the launch of a commemorative DVD. Check website for details.

Primary schools  – Well done to Youth Officer P Tierney for organising a highly successful primary schools blitz in Healy Park and congratulations to the schools that took part. Photos on facebook and website.
