A new chairman has been appointed by the members of Omagh St. Enda’s GAC to lead the club in 2014.
Former long serving secretary John McElholm took up the reigns at a well attended AGM on Tuesday evening, taking over from Seamus Hannigan whose five-year term in the top post ended.
In his outgoing address Mr Hannigan paid tribute to the many volunteers in the club for their commitment and efforts across all activities. He singled out the success of the Club’s Scór section and particularly this year’s All-Ireland Céilí Dance victory in Derry as being one of the highlights of the year with Omagh now the leading club in Ireland with ten national titles in this category.
The only downside of his term in office was, he said, the lack of success at senior football level with the last championship victory for St. Enda’s now stretching to over 25 years but with the healthy state of affairs at youth level he was nonetheless optimistic for the future.
Club delegates received comprehensive reports from the outgoing Secretary Paul Breen and Treasurer Paul Meldrum who confirmed that the club was in a strong position across many areas.
With the Club now preparing to embark on a number of ambitious development plans, the challenges of fundraising was being led by Club Omagh and everyone was urged to support the range of activities that were being planned for 2014.
