St. Enda’s 3-10, Coalisland 2-18
Hard luck to the U16’s who bowed out of the championship today at the semi-final stage when they lost to a strong Coalisland side at Donaghmore.
The game was won by the Fianna boys in the first eight minutes of the second half, when they hit us with a whirlwind attack to score 2-5 without reply.
Up to that point, St. Enda’s played strongly, coming from behind in the first half to trail 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time.
Then came that second half blitz which saw Coalisland notching up a whopping 13 points lead by the 38th minute on the score of 2-14 to 0-7.
However, just as they did in their previous outings, the Omagh boys staged a gutsy fight back with three goals in the next 18 minutes.
With four minutes remaining, Coalisland’s lead was cut to just four points and it could have been closer had it not been for a couple of unfortunate misses from scoreable positions. As it was, Coalisland finished strongest with a late point to secure a five points win.
