St. Enda’s coaches, players over the age of 16, and the parents of our youth players are invited to a special ‘safeTALK’ course to be held in the clubrooms on Wednesday 6th November from 6.30-9pm.
The free course which will be provided by Barry McGale, Western Trust Suicide Liaison Officer, will help participants recognise and identify persons with thoughts of suicide and show them how to connect vulnerable persons with suicide first aid resources. As a safeTALK-trained suicide alert helper, you will be better able to:
– move beyond common tendencies to miss, dismiss or avoid suicide;
– identify people who have thoughts of suicide;
– apply the TALK steps (Tell, Ask, Listen and KeepSafe) to connect a person with suicide thoughts to suicide first aid, intervention caregivers.
The course, which is being co-ordinated by club member and Camogie coach Tracy Monaghan, is part of our ongoing health and well being initiative. Further health related courses will be rolled in the coming months.
Anyone who would like to enrol on the ‘safeTALK’ course on the 6th Nov should contact Tracy as soon as possible via –
