Club Notes JournalistOmagh

Volunteers – A big thank you to the many club volunteers who helped to make last Sunday’s county final in Healy Park a great success. We have it all to do again this Sunday for the Intermediate and Junior finals. Once again it is essential that ALL volunteers contact Club Secretary Paul Breen on 07803876555 before Friday to confirm attendance and to guarantee access to the grounds. All available stewards must be available from 11.45am sharp on Sunday.

Planning Workshop – Club members are asked to keep free next Wednesday (23rd) at 7.30pm for an important Club Planning workshop. A number of focus group sessions covering Coaching and Games Development, Communications, Club Structures and Administration, Finance and Fundraising, Facilities and Development, Culture and Scór, will be held to gauge the opinions of club members and supporters on devising a five year plan which will map out the future direction of the club. Everyone from all areas of the club, including past and present players and members, and the parents of current players, are encouraged to come along to this important event and have their say on how the future of St. Enda’s is shaped.

Jubilee team – One of the highlights of last Sunday’s county finals was the presentation of our 1988 senior championship winning team as the jubilee team of the year. Many of the senior team who defeated Clonoe in the decider 25 years ago were there to receive a special commemorative medal from county chairman, Ciaran McLaughlin in front of a 7,000-plus crowd. The club plan to stage a further reunion for the teams of 1988 plus the 1963 senior team which also won the championship 50 years ago. A date will be announced shortly.

Reserve championship – St. Enda’s Reserves bowed out of the championship last Saturday after losing to Clonoe 0-13 to 0-7. The senior and reserves are back in league action this Saturday afternoon in Healy Park when they play Donaghmore at 2.15pm and 3.45pm.

U16 Devs – Hard luck to the U16 Devs whose season came to an end last Saturday when they bowed out of the Grade 4 championship after being defeated by Trillick. The boys should, however, hold their heads high after turning in some great performances all season. A date of the U16 Grade 1 semi-final has to be announced

Mini-games – Best wishes to Emma Cait and Aoibheann Gallagher, Tiernan Cox, Donal Kelly, Fionbharr Taggart and Adam Groogan who will represent the club in the hurling and camogie mini-games  at the Junior & Intermediate Football Finals in Healy Park this Sunday.

Hurling blitz – The club’s hurlers will travel to Magherafelt this Sunday for an Ulster U16 indoor blitz.

Croke Park trip – Our u12s are planning a trip to Croke Park on Saturday 26th Oct to see the second test of the International Rules Series between Ireland and Australia. Players wishing to travel should contact Martin Flanagan on 07736126860 before Friday.

Day at the races – Club Omagh is organising a fund raising Day at the Races at Fairyhouse on Saturday 30th November – and there is a great chance of winning a cool £1,000 on the day. For reservations, please contact any of the following: Eamon McMullan 079 792 404 40, Charlie O’Donnell 077 096 974 14 or Eugene McMahon 079 269 413 21.

Julia McGinn Cup – The annual Julia McGinn girls football blitz and presentation for U8, U10 and U12 girls will be held in Healy Park on Friday evening from 7pm.

U12 presentation – A presentation for U12 boys will also be held on Friday in the clubrooms at 8pm.
