Omagh St. Enda’s is delighted to announce the appointment of Seanie Meyler as their new senior football manager for 2013. The club’s Executive Committee ratified the position at a meeting on Wednesday night.
Seanie has been a dedicated and long serving St. Enda’s member and has played football at every level with the club since childhood. He was member of the club’s minor team that won the championship in 1983 and captained the side in the 1984 minor final before going on to play a leading role in helping the club to win its last senior championship title in 1988. That year, St. Enda’s secured the double by also winning the Division One league title.
Two years later in 1990 St. Enda’s were on the verge of winning the double again but lost to Coalisland in the championship decider. They overturned that result in the league play-off, however, with Seanie scoring six points in a 1-8 to 1-7 victory. A regular high scorer, Seanie also played in the 1998 senor championship final when St. Enda’s lost to Ardboe.
Seanie also wore the Tyrone jersey with distinction at minor and U21 levels and was part of the Tyrone senior team which won the Ulster championship in 1989.
Welcoming the appointment, club chairman Seamus Hannigan wished Seanie and his backroom team well for the 2013 season.
“All club members wish Seanie, his assistants, and the various team managers and players at all levels the very best of luck in the season ahead. We would also like to thank the outgoing senior manager Liam Grugan and his assistants for their great work with the team in 2012 which saw them reach a Top Four League play-off,” said Seamus.
