Omagh St. Enda’s 1-10 Carrickmore 0-12

Healy Park witnessed scenes of incredible celebration on Sunday as St. Enda’s were crowned Tyrone senior champions for 2014.

It took a last minute goal – a repeat of the dramatic semi-final win over Dromore – to secured a dramatic 1-10 to 0-12 victory over a Carrickmore side that went into the lead in the dying minutes of the game. The goal from Ronan O’Neill deep in injury time sparked fantastic celebrations as the club lifted its first senior championship title in 26 years.

The sides were level on five occasions in an absorbing first half, played in front of a crowd of 8,625, but it was Carrickmore who took the lead at half-time, going in 0-8 to 0-6 ahead.

Inspired by Barry Tierney and Joe McMahon who scored some brilliant points along with frees from Ronan O’Neill, St. Enda’s battled hard in the second half to take the lead by the 51st minute but worringly it was Carrickmore who went ahead on the 60 minute mark.

Amazingly, St. Enda’s fighting qualities which they demonstrated in previous games against Coalisland and Dromore came to the rescue once again when Ronan O’Neill took possession from a long ball from Cathal McCarron to slot to the Carrickmore net on the 61st minute to put us two points clear.

In an agonising period of additional time, Carrickmore piled on the pressure and need a goal to win but could only manage a point in a late desperate attack before the final whistle sounded to spark off wild scenes of celebration.

St. Enda’s scorers – Ronan O’Neill (1-4 – 0-2 from frees), Conan Grugan (0-2, from frees), Barry Tierney (0-2), Jason McAnulla (0-1), Joseph McMahon (0-1).

St. Enda’s – Ryan Clarke, Hugh Gallagher, Justin McMahon, Stephen Mullan, Ciaran McLaughlin, Barry Tierney, Conor McMahon, Joseph McMahon, Conan Grugan, Aaron Grugan, Jason McAnulla,  Cormac O’Neill, Connor O’Donnell, Ronan O’Neill, Conor Meyler.

Subs used – Michael Flanagan for Cormac O’Neill (39 mins), Conor Starrs for Ciaran McLaughlin (47 mins), Cathal McCarron for Conor Meyler (58 mins).
