AFTER three very hectic days, the Féile campaign for 2014 came to an end on Sunday for St. Enda’s and our guests Barrow Rangers from Kilkenny.

The final day started with two semi-final games at Healy Park in the Division Six Shield and Cup competition. Sadly for St. Enda’s, a second half comeback by Wexford Club Our Ladys Island denied the Healy Park boys an opportunity of appearing in an historic All-Ireland Shield final. The Wexford team went on to win the overall title. Omagh led by 0-3 to 0-1 at half-time but the Wexford boys found the net twice to break local hearts. However there was plenty to cheer about in the Cup semi-final at Healy Park when our Feile guests Barrow Rangers staged a great performance to overcome Galway side Cill Teidhil on the score of 2-6 to 0-3. Unfortunately the Feile odssey for Barrow ended at Garvaghey in the finals where they were overcome by Naomh Moinne of Louth.

The Feile weekend proved to be an exceptional experience for everyone at Omagh St. Enda’s and we were delighted to welcome our Kilkenny guests. Great friendships were made and we’re confident that the Tyrone-Kilkenny relationship will last well in to the future.

The young Barrow boys presented their host families with special mementos at the club BBQ on Saturday night and the clubs also exchanged gifts. One of the highlights for our own boys was the presentation of hurls signed by Kilkenny legends DJ Carey and Henry Shefflin to every one of the U14 hurlers.

Many thanks to all the host families and to club members who assisted in any way to make this a successful weekend for St. Enda’s and Barrow Rangers. Healy Park and St. Patrick’s Park proved to be excellent locations for the many games and all the visiting teams from Galway,, Wexford, Longford, Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim and of course Kilkenny were well impressed by the facilities and local hospitality. It was a great occasion to be a St. Enda’s member.
