Weekly news round-up – Thurs 22.5.14

U14 action – Well done to the U14 boys footballers who recorded a comprehensive 11-15 to 2-8 win over Carrickmore in the league play-off on Wednesday to set up a quarter-final clash with Killeeshil this Saturday. The U14s are also in championship action next Wednesday with the A team away to Errigal Ciaran and the Devs away to Augher to play Gael Naomh Padraig. Both games are at 7.15 and a good support would be appreciated by both sets of players. The U14 girls produced a spirited display against Glenelly in the league last week and are away to Cookstown this evening (Thursday) at 7.30pm. The U14 hurlers travelled to Dungannon on Monday to begin their league campaign. There is no game next Monday but the team commence training for the Feile this evening (Thurs) in St. Patrick’s Park at 6.30pm and again on Monday next at the same time.

Senior ladies – The senior ladies continued with a win in the league last Friday against Loughmacrory with their next game on Sunday week against Clann na Gael.

Minors – The boys minor footballers play Errigal Ciaran in their final scheduled league game on Sunday at 6pm.

U10 coaching – U10 football and hurling coaching continues on Saturday in St. Patrick’s Park from 10am-11.30am. Coaching for U8 and U10s continues on Tuesday evening 6.30-8pm.

U8 blitzThe U8 boys are away to a football blitz in Garvaghey on Saturday commencing at 10.30. Parents are requested to assist with transport to the venue and are asked to assemble at Brook Street (Holy Family PS) for 9.30am to car pool if necessary. Parents please report to James Duffy (07442 504538).

Coaching – U12 boys football coaching continues each Tuesday in St. Patrick’s park at 6.30pm with U8, U10 and U12 girls football on Wednesday at 6pm. Camogie coaching continues to flourish each Friday in St. Patrick’s Park from 6.15pm. Newcomers welcome to all sessions.

Golf Classic – Final bookings for the Golf Classic on Fri 30th May will be taken this weekend by Paul O’Neill on 07772738462.

Sympathy – Sympathy is extended to the Coyle, Clark, Taggart and McGinn families on their recent bereavements.

Volunteers – Thank you to all the club members who helped with a range of duties at last Sunday’s big games in Healy Park. Good luck to all the players again this Saturday for the senior replay and minor game in Newry.

Championship date  -Due to the replay, the club senior championship games have been rescheduled with St. Enda’s game against Coalisland now put back to Saturday 31st May in Carrickmore at 8pm.
